The county of Devon is quite unique with two different coastlines separated by glorious countryside and wild wonderful moorland. It is rich in history and heritage where you can step back in time and explore historic cities, or discover seafaring characters like Drake and Raleigh, the settings for novels by Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle, myths and legends.
Dartmoor:

Dartmoor is a beautiful wild and rugged area of Devon comprising of granite tors, bogs and expanses of heathland. It has been inhabited since at least 1500BC though it is hard to see why anyone would choose to live in this difficult landscape. Conversely it is not hard to see why the High Security Prison was built at Princetown, the highest village on the moor.

Plymouth:

This City, located on the South Coast, is the regional centre of Devon and is still an important seaport. In the past Sir Francis Drake sailed from here to attack the Spanish Armada and later the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America.  Plymouth Gin Distillery, which has been producing Plymouth Gin since 1793.

Wembury:

Just around the coast, East of Plymouth is Wembury. Pauline stayed here whilst having treatment at the Hyperbaric unit in Plymouth.

Olde Churston Court Inn - near Brixham.

Now here is a wonderful place to stay -even if just briefly for a meal. Churston Court's owner, is one of the country’s leading experts on medieval buildings and has spent much of his time saving them from demolition. Here at Churston Court is an Old building in a timewarp - suits of armour, smokey inglenook firepaces, tapestries, wood panelling, 4 poster beds the works - quite unbelievable.
